Peruvian nativity in Gourd
This delicate ornament is made from a gourd which has been delicately carved. Cradling within it is a nativity scene, hand formed from potato dough. These nativity gourds are produced following a tradition dating back over a thousand years in the Peruvian Central Andes of South America. Simple metal hand chisels are used to carve the gourds which are the dried fruit of a variety of vine tree found in Central and South America. In the Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America the nativity scene is known as nacimiento, pesebre, portal, or pasito. One of the Peruvian traditions is to celebrate "Noche Buena" or "Good Night" on the night of December 24, Christmas Eve. After celebrating the mass, families enjoy an elaborate meal, sing Christmas carols or "villancicos", and wait until midnight to hug and wish each each other a Merry Christmas.

Framed Egyptian Papyrus
Framed Egyptian Papyrus - hand painted and hand made. With twelve Zodiac. There is the god Horus and 4 female goddesses, with Horus represents the 4 directions representing the 4 seasons. The months are represented by adding the goddesses and Horus, for a total of twelve. If we add the total number of hands it is 24, or the hours in the day. If we take the number of fingers (10) and multiply it by 12 the answer is 12. Dividing 120 by 2 we get 60 - 60 for the minutes in an hour, and 60 for the 60 seconds in a minute. The hieroglyphics on the side tell the story. Sold by Sandra.

Antique Camera - Eastman Kodak Co. made in Rochester, N.Y.
Antique Cameras. Eastman Kodak Co., No 2 Folding autographic brownie. Kodak No. 1 Junior-A, 1914-16, autographic, made in USA. The Eastman Kodak Company of Rochester, New York, was at the forefront of the major photographic technology advances of the 20th Century, from the introduction of flexible camera film sold by the roll, to the production of film for the first motion pictures with sounds.
The birth of the company dates to 1878 when George Eastman purchased his first camera in preparation for an oversea trip. Cameras at the time required heavy glass negatives covered in various chemical emulsions that fixed an image when exposed to light. Working in his mother's kitchen, Eastman began experimenting with different emulsion formulas. By 1880 he had developed a dry-plate process using a thin gelatin layer, as well as a machine to mass-produce the plates.
The Eastman Dry Plate and Film Company was officially established in 1884, band was renamed as Eastman Kodak company in 1892 when the Kodak brand had taken off, which positioned the company as a producer of cameras for all people, not just professionals.
The first Kodak model sold for US$25 or around two week's worth of wages, which was still quite expensive. After shooting the 100 exposures that were built into the camera, customers would return the entire device to the factory for processing and printing. The following year, Kodak introduced a new roll-style film on transparent backing, thus establishing the film format that was the standard until digital cameras took over at the beginning of the 21st century.

The Do Nothing Machine
The Do Nothing Machine. It literally does nothing other than moving that arm and it moves up and down. The Trammel of Archimedes is basically a mechanism that generates the shape of an ellipse. An ellipsograph is a trammel of Archimedes intended to draw, cut, or machine ellipses, e.g. in wood or other sheet materials. An ellipsograph has the appropriate instrument (pencil, knife, router, etc.) attached to the rod. Usually the distances a and b are adjustable, so that the size and shape of the ellipse can be varied. The Do Nothing Machine is a toy version of the Trammel of Archimedes.
